Apprentice Applications
& Portfolio Class
Here you will find directions to submit a portfolio and to join me during a hands-on portfolio creations class.
Portfolio Class
What I will be covering:
The fundamentals of what quality mentors look for in an apprentice’s portfolio & attitude.
The main pieces required in every impressive portfolio. We will sketch and render out portions of these together.
What it really takes to be a tattoo artist, and what to expect from various kinds of apprenticeships. We should really get curious about whether or not a tattoo career is right for you.
How to find a quality apprenticeship, playing the long-game, and self-education.
Please bring:
Your current portfolio/drawings
Some questions for me about the industry
An open mind about drawing
Additionally, anybody who attends can get a free 1-on-1 session to discuss tattooing & their portfolio.
Applying for an apprenticeship
What I personally would like to see in an apprentice application:
A strong letter of intent and a brief summary of how much time you’re able to commit
A 1-page mood board for the style(s) of tattooing that inspire you
Crisp and clean linework, demonstrated with neotraditional, traditional, or illustrative art
Smooth, well rendered realism with great understanding of values
Thoughtful layout and design of the page and/or artwork
Minimum of 3 solid, hand-drawn pieces
Quality photos
Additional pieces are great. Digital pieces are also strongly encouraged. However, the most important part is that you have strong technical skills.
Please email this to Chaisunlee.tattoos@gmail.com
Application Deadline is October 1st.
